Answers to Common Questions

Especially if you are new to web development and never had a website, things migh sound “Greek” to you. Here we try to answer the most common questions our client have been asking.

Will I own my website?

Yes! Our websites are built utilizing the world’s most common system WordPress. It can be hosted on most web servers. Other than website builders like Wix, Weebly, and Squarespace it can be hosted wherever you want. If you want to move to another provider, we’ll assist you.

This also works the other way around: If you currently own a WordPress site, redesigns don’t have to be done “from scratch”, saving you a lot of money.

What do I need to have a website?

In order to operate a law firm website (or any website) you need a domain name, a hosting account and the website itself.  There are companies that only sell domain names, some are offering hosting accounts only, some that offer web design only. AWebsiteForLawyers.com offers everything in one hand.

We even help you to find the right domain name and register it for you in your name!

Where are you hosting my website?

Typically any web development firm has server space reserved at some of the big data centers in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, New York – just to name a few. Those datacenters manage the servers and have an uptime of almost 100%.

We host over 250 websites at at least five different datacenters with regular backups being performed to yet another datacenter. After almost 20 years in business we are very careful whom we work with.

We have been with many of the “big names” but stayed with some of the best in the industry.

I already have a hosting account. Will you design a website for me?

We will be happy to do that for you. Be aware that having a hosting account with us includes a free domain, traffic stats, search engine monitoring, malware scanning, and uptime monitoring. We are available to do quick changes for you and respond typically within an hour.

With your own hosting account, all those things someone else will have to do for you.

However, if you have your own preferred hosting company, we’ll offer a maintenance plan.

What if I am not happy with your work?

It rarely happens, but it does. Design is a matter of taste, and we might not match yours or your way of working. In case that in the middle of the project it becomes obvious that we are not the perfect match for each other, our terms give both of us the option to terminate the contract. Depending on the progress of the project, you will receive a refund of up to 50% of your fees paid to date.

Do I own my domain name once I register it with you?

If you register with us, you own your domain name. However, if you deny or fail to pay for annual renewal fees, you lose ownership of your domain name.

What are my recurring costs?

Recurring costs for website packages are yearly hosting fees are $220 – $240, depending on the size of the site. This includes an hour of changes. Additional customizations or services will be billed separately at an hourly rate of $89.

Some additional, optional services like immigration news or pay-per-click management are offered separately as a subscription.

I like one of your samples. Will my site look the same?

Not if you don’t want to. Consider then design suggestions, or starting points. We will change as much as you like -a new head image with your logo and slogan; adjust the navigation, change background colors and fonts. The result is a unique, appealing website.

Why choose a law firm website with more pages?

You also have the option to send us changes – 60 minutes of changes are free, above that we’ll charge our hourly rates.

You will have editing and publishing rights on your site. Since we take responsibility for sites hosted on our server, we cannot share that responsibility with a third party. This relates to the WordPress login as well as the cPanel access.

How long does it take until my website shows on Google?

With our Call Google system your site usually shows on Google within 3-7 days.

How do I get to the first page on Google?

The easiest way for a new website is utilizing Google’s pay-per-click service (also called Google Ads). It will give you 1st page ranking instantly for a price of about $5-$25 per visitor clicking on your ad. Getting to page one of Google’s regular listing requires far more.
